Sixth form students have helped push up a school’s “value added” scores on A-level results day.
Saimon Khan, 18, of Ilford, made Seven Kings High School, Ley Street, Seven Kings, proud by acheiveing three A’s and an A* after coming to the UK four years ago from Florence, Italy, not knowing how to speak English.
He secured the A grades in maths, economics and French, and got the A* in Italian.
Mr Khan, who will now be studying economics at SOAS, said: “At first, coming to the UK was a big change, but the students and teachers here were really helpful.”
Other excelling students included Sofiya Gatens, 17, of Ilford, who achieved four A grade AS-levels in biology, politics, English literature and geography and Sadiya Baksh, 17, of Ilford, who received three A’s for AS-level biology, chemistry and psychology, and an A* in A-level maths.
Seven Kings headteacher Tracy Smith said: “It’s been great, it’s the joy of the students that makes the work throughout the year worthwhile, and this year our value added scores are higher.”
