All around us people seem to be worried about the cost of things, everything seems to be going up.

I have heard several people say that soon we won’t find all we need on the supermarket shelves.

It may be that the choice of biscuits may go down but isn’t it always the same that there are always things we cannot buy?

However, the things that really matter – friends and human companionship, kindess and love between people – these are things that really make our lives better.

Jesus tells us – do not worry about your life, what we will eat and drink, what we will wear.

Worrying will not add a single day to our lives. Actually, there is a good deal of evidence that worry causes stress and stress lowers our life expectancy.

We worry about all sorts of things and the stats tell me that only 15 per cent of what we worry about will happen.

And of that 15pc, we may find that we will deal with it better and learn an important life lesson.

It’s good advice not to worry as we waste 85pc of our thoughts on things which will not happen.

So this summer spend time with friends and family instead.

Nobody ever regretted the love they shared, only the chances that slipped away.
