Live theatre is set to come to the Wanstead Fringe Festival - for the first time in its six year history - with an adaptation of the classic children’s novel The Secret Garden.
Theatre company Hordern Ciani will perform The Secret Garden at the Deaton Theatre, in Oakhurst Gardens, on September 8 and 9.
The play follows the story of disagreeable, yet desperately lonely, child Mary Lennox who is sent to live with her uncle in Misselthwaite Manor.
One day she stumbles upon a hidden garden which had been kept locked for years and, with the help of a friendly robin, is able to find the key.
Producer Kathrine Mount said: “It’s a magical piece that is very true to the orginal book.
“We have had people aged three to 93 coming through the door and loving it - it is a real piece of family theatre.”
Tickets cost £16 for adults and £12 for children.
