From firefighters to police officers and henna tattoos to balloon art, people from all corners of Ilford’s vibrant community are coming together in the town centre.
Redbridge Council of Voluntary Services (CVS) is running a Community Day in High Street on Thursday, August 30 from 10am to 3pm.
Visitors will be able to explore the inside of a fire engine at a Fire Brigade demonstration and they can also try on a police uniform for size.
There will also be giveaways of personal and home safety items, stalls where guests can get henna tattoos or try their hand at balloon art, a smoothie bike, a public art installation and pasta-making demonstrations.
Cineworld cinema and Nando’s have donated prizes which will be awarded to the people who tweet the best photos on the day.
Groups from across the spectrum of the borough’s volunteering sector will be manning stalls promoting their work.
