A Latin-style soul trio, a young indie-rock band and a popular country ensemble will be among the acts taking over the streets of Ilford when the Midsummer Music Fest kicks off this weekend.

The eleventh annual summer event in Redbridge will provide two days of uplifting live music from a variety of genres including pop and rock to folk and blues via jazz, soul, hip-hop, bluegrass and classical Indian.

Twenty-eight different acts will perform free gigs for residents organised by the Redbridge Green Fair Music Club and Redbridge Music Lounge.

Among the performers this year are cool jazz combo Indigo Shades, rock band Accidental Tourists and bluegrass band The Spangles Gang.

Show tunes specialist, Gabby Niman, will also have audiences on their feet and dancing to some of the biggest hits from the West End.

While 16-year-old singer, Ryan Green, will be back to perform at the festival after first taking part when he was just 11 years old.

The event will begin on Saturday outside Waterstones in High Road, Ilford, offering people a break from shopping between 10.30am-6pm.

But don’t worry, if you’re unable to make it on the day, the music will continue in Valentines Park, Emerson Road, Ilford, on Saunday, from 10.30am-8pm.
