Music from a British comedy duo who rose to fame in the 1950s will be relived in a special show dedicated to their work.
Enjoy an evening filled with the comic as well as more serious music of Flanders and Swann which spanned two decades in the Food of Love’s Hold Very Tight Please!
Michael Flanders and Donald Swann have a reputation for gentle songs which reflect the typical English sense of humour of a bygone era.
Leon Berger, alongside soprano Sovra Newman, will perform songs from the pair’s shows At the Drop of a Hat and At the Drop of Another Hat, as well as material created outside of their double act, including Bilbo’s Last Song from The Road Goes Ever.
“The songs don’t seem to go out of fashion, because there is very little in the songs that dates them or just a little tweaking will bring them bang up-to-date,” says Newman.
The show is at Valentines Mansion, Emerson Road, Ilford, on June 13 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £13.
