The glamour of Bollywood will be brought to Ilford this weekend in a musical “extravaganza” showcasing some of the best new talent in the industry from a school in Newbury Park.
The spotlight will be on Honey Kalaria, the UK’s Bollywood ambassador, and her students as they perform their latest show, 17 Days aur Bollywood Spice.
Directed by Gurnam Singh, the musical tells the story of a group of school students, who, inspired by a visit from a Bollywood star, embark on an exploration of the film industry.
The show includes pupils from Honey’s Performing Art’s Academy, in Eastern Avenue, Karishma Bhandari and Prasantha Pavan.
Honey said: As well as showcasing individual talents, the musical promises breathtaking dances, colourful stage sets and vibrant costumes, all displaying the beauty of eastern art and culture.
“We’ve brought together over 100 students, talented artists and professional performers from our Academy in this collective venture and are all extremely proud of what we’ve achieved.”
• The show will be at the Kenneth More Theatre, Oakfield Road, on Sunday. To book call 020 8553 4466. Tickets are £15 for adults, £12.50 concessions and £10 for under 12s.
