Woodford Green helped by string of wins at final Southern League match

The latest news from the Wooford Green & Essex Ladies club

Woodford Green & Essex Ladies finished top of the pile at the final Southern League Three North meeting of the season after a string of impressive victories.

Matthew Adum-Yeboah won the men’s 100m A race in 11.29 seconds, while Winfred Akeem took top honours in a B string in 11.55s.

In the women’s 100m A event, Eloise Lewis was first home in a time of 12.84s, while Rebecca Fafowora triumphed in the B race in 12.74s.

Adum-Yeboah also won the men’s 200m B string in 23.36s, while Karina Hope-Bunce won the women’s B event over the same distance in 26.53s.

There was also success in the men’s 400m A race which Adrian Richards won in 51.17s, while Sidnie Ward took the B string in 52.75s.

Paul Scanlan took the victory in the men’s 800m A event in one minute and 58 seconds, with Anna Clark winning the women’s A race in 2.14 and Rebecca Wilby the B string in 2.34.

In the men’s 1500m A event, Ahmed Abdulle was first home in 4.04, while Angus Holford won the B race in 4.09 and Wilby took top honours in the women’s A string in 5.19.

The relays also yielded wins as Woodford Green won the men’s 4x100m in 44.69s; the women’s 4x100m in 50.87s, the men’s 4x400m in 3.44; and the women’s 4x400m in 4.10.

In the field, Kyra Boyce won the women’s high jump B string with an effort of 1.35m.

Tolani Alaba took the men’s pole vault A event with 3.05m, while Elliot Luscombe won the B string with 2.30m.

Adrian Stamp produced a distance of 6.35m to win the men’s long jump A event, while Danesha Rocastle won the women’s triple jump B string with 10.65m.

There were also wins for Hugh Williams in the men’s shot put A event with 11.96m; Peter Clarke in the men’s hammer A string with 55.10m; Fergus Harford in the men’s hammer B event with 33.42m; Stephanie Howe in the women’s hammer A string with 44.62m; and Eike Vardja in the women’s javelin A event with 27.75 m.

Emmaline Okafor won the women’s discus B string with 24.55m, the hammer B event with 40.45m and javelin B string with 16.18m on a busy afternoon for the Woodford Green athlete.
