Oaks Park pupils were celebrating after enjoying two great cup victories last week.

The year seven boys won a thrilling Redbridge Cup tie against Beal, playing really well in the first half to lead 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Carlos Flood and Peter Zola.

The second half was end-to-end but a lapse in the Oaks Park defence allowed Beal to equalise and take the game into extra time.

There were chances at both ends during the extra period, but it was man of the match Kane Ovid who scored twice to seal a 4-2 victory and send Oaks Park into the next round.

Meanwhile, the under-14 girls travelled to St Angela’s in Newham to play a preliminary round tie in the Essex Cup.

And Oaks Park produced a dominant first-half display to seal victory, with Deja Omard scoring twice and an own goal putting the visitors 3-0 up.

St Angela’s came back into the tie in the second half, as Oaks Park eased up, but could only manage to score one goal in reply.
