Under-15: Ilford County High 4 Oaks Park 3
Ilford County High enjoyed a thrilling victory over Oaks Park in the Redbridge Schoools Cup.
The tie was a real game of two halves, with Oaks Park starting very slowly and finding themselves 3-0 down in a short space of time.
There were no further goals before half-time, with Ilford County High having a commanding lead, but in the second half Oaks Park fought back strongly.
Ishmael Jordan scored from the penalty spot to reduce the arrears and the deficit was further cut with a great goal from Jordan Burnett-Quarry.
Ilford County High restored the two-goal advantage before Dev Umeria pulled another goal back for Oaks Park five minutes from time.
But try as they might Oaks Park could not get back into the game and Ilford County High went through.
There was better news for Oaks Park teams in other cup competitions last week with the under-19s enjoying a 3-2 victory over their rivals from Newham.
The under-16s had a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Palmer Catholic Academy, after scoring twice in the first half and defending solidly after the restart to keep their opponents out.
Meanwhile, Palmer Catholic Academy celebrated a hat-trick of wins in other matches, as their under-12s beat King Soloman by a 5-1 margin, inspired by Donnell Ofori, and the under-14s thrashed their Oaks Park rivals by an 8-2 scoreline, while the under-15s beat Beal 5-1 at home.
