Bancroft’s School saw two of their teams book spots in the regional finals of the British Karting Championships.

The Woodford Green school took four teams of three drivers to the event, having seen 24 pupils try out for the final 12 at Brentwood.

And dominant displays from Max Wieteska and Richard Buckley in the A team and Neel Tanna and Adam Ugradar for the B team saw them claim the two qualifying spots.

Bancroft’s D team finished third, ahead of the C team, with captain Amir Sampat, a year 13 pupil instrumental in setting up the karting team three years ago, hoping they can improve on their 15th place finish at their previous national final appearance.

He said: “I’m thrilled to have qualified for regional finals. It has been great to see the progress of the team’s young enthusiastic racers through the years.

“We hope to repeat last year’s success at the regional final and book our place in this year’s national final.”
