Jake Collins scored in final play of match to secure victory for Highams club

Tom Redfern praised Woodford’s resilience after a dramatic 26-25 victory at Southwold put them top of London Two North East.

Jake Collins scored a try with the last play of the match to secure a victory for the Highams club on the Suffolk coast.

Theo Kaltsas, Matt Farrington and Will Cooper-Rendu also crossed for Woodford in their latest success.

Head coach Redfern was delighted the Highams outfit could claim all five points on the road, but knows their performance left some room for improvement.

“We were happy to get the win, but we know we didn’t play as well as we can do,” said Redfern.

“It was great to see the boys show resilience in challenging conditions and Southwold made it tough for us.

“To win with the last play of the game was superb as it shows the boys kept at it and Southwold will be a tough place for teams to go to this season.”
