Herons were beaten 36-0 away from home on Saturday
David Wiggins expressed his disappointment with his Wanstead side after they lost 36-0 at Stowmarket in London Two North East.
Having won on their previous outing in the league, the Herons had hoped to follow that up with a triumph on their trip to Suffolk.
However, the Roding Lane North club were thwarted in their attacking efforts by a resolute Stowmarket side.
Wanstead director of rugby Wiggins did praise Stowmarket for their defensive display, but feels his own team slipped below their usual standards.
“It was an extraordinary result that left me nonplussed and there were no excuses for what happened,” said Wiggins.
“We had two excellent weeks of training leading up to the game and everything on the day was fine until kick-off.
“We underachieved, Stowmarket deserve plenty of credit for their defence which was first class.”
Wanstead are next in action on December when they play host to Norwich in the league.
