Highams club triumphed in league for first time this term on Saturday

Woodford ended their wait for a London Two North East win this season with a 52-17 win at home to Chelmsford on Saturday, much to the delight of head coach Tom Redfern.

After losing each of their opening three games, the Highams club collected their first success of the season with an eight-try triumph last weekend.

The success saw Woodford, who had claimed two bonus points in defeats this term, clamber up to eighth in the table.

And Redfern was delighted the Highams club were able to finally earn a first win having performed well for little reward in recent weeks.

“It was a good win for us and a good display too. We’re pleased to get our first win of the season,” said Redfern.

“There were some great individual performances, but they contributed to a superb display from everyone who played on Saturday.”

Woodford will hope to earn their second league success of the season on Saturday when they visit Cantabrigian.
