Wanstead visit Harlow in the semi-finals of the Essex Intermediate Cup on Saturday, looking for a return to winning ways.

Last weekend saw the Herons concede a late try to draw 29-29 at home to Romford in London Two North East, a second successive game without a win for the Roding Lane North club.

That recent run of form has seen David Wiggins’ men drop to third in the table, five points adrift of Sudbury in second.

With a cup match to focus on this weekend, Wanstead will hope that brings about a change in fortunes.

The Herons have already got the better of Harlow in the league this term, winning 42-21 at Roding Lane North on the opening day of the campaign.

Divisional rivals Woodford, meanwhile, have the weekend off with no competitive action scheduled.

The Highams club slipped back into the bottom two in the division following a defeat to runaway leaders Rochford last weekend.

However, there are plenty of for Woodford to take from the loss, with the 29-19 score the closest any side has come to beating Rochford in the league this term.
