Herons made it four bonus-point wins from four this term, but head coach knows their displays can improve

Wanstead head coach David Wiggins admits he was not happy with his side’s display despite securing a 39-24 success at Ipswich in London Two North East.

The newly-promoted side made it four bonus-point wins in as many matches this term with another comfortable success in Suffolk.

Lewis Pruce crossed for a brace of tries, taking his tally to 11 for the season, while Scott Bird and Ernie Lisauskas also among those to dot down.

The success maintained the Herons’ perfect start to the new term, but Wiggins says the Roding Lane North club did not hit the heights expected of them at Ipswich.

“In terms of the points we’ve got from the first four games, we can’t ask for more, but we were a little disappointed with the display at Ipswich,” he said.

“We played poorly and we didn’t play the way that we wanted to. Whereas the week before our kicker was superb, at Ipswich, he had an off-day.

“We probably left 10 points out there, but to say that after winning hopefully shows that we’re in a good place.”
