Highams club safely into round two after big win at weekend

Woodford head coach Tom Redfern was pleased with his team’s application in their 45-5 win at home to Harrow in the first round of the London section of the Intermediate Cup.

The Highams club secured safe passage through to the next round with a comfortable win over the London Two North West outfit.

Woodford also returned to winning ways against Harrow, having lost at Cantabrigians in London Two North East the previous weekend.

And Redfern declared himself happy with all aspects of the display from the Highams club in the win.

“It’s funny what a week can do. We had some important players back and you don’t score 45 points playing badly,” he said.

“What was most pleasing was the attitude the boys showed. First half, we were knocking on the door constantly, but were only 7-0 up at half time; second half, we seemed to find another gear.”

The draw for the second round is due to take place later this week, with the tie to take place on November 18.
