Essex Canterbury Jack Premier: Writtle Wanderers 0 Ilford Wanderers 27

Ilford Wanderers continued their impressive form in 2018 with a 27-0 win away to Writtle in the Essex Canterbury Jack Premier.

After 20 minutes of increasing pressure from the Wanderers pack, the home defence cracked and away skipper Jason Taylor crossed for the first score.

Ilford continued to press, turning over ruck ball and moving it quickly for centre Ryan McCarthy to crash through the defence.

Wanderers then added a third after taking a scrum against the head, with fly half Alfie Waddems showing quick feet to dot down as the visitors led 17-10 at the break.

In the second half, Ilford forced a scrum from which their dominance allowed scrum half Alex Dean to scuttle over for a try.

The final score came with Ilford’s forwards again driving hard into Writtle’s corner, where Reece Barney picked up to score.

Wanderers next face Stanford-le-Hope at home this weekend in the league.
