London One North: Ruislip 28 Eton Manor 38
Eton Manor head coach Jamie Connors hailed Michael Eghan following last weekend’s victory at Ruislip in the London One North.
The winger scored a hat-trick of tries and assisted two more as the New Wilderness outfit secured a 38-28 away win to move within two points of Colchester at the top of the table.
Garth Tucker, Jack Knowles and Alex Clarke also crossed over in the bonus point away success and Connors was pleased with the performance of Eghan.
He said “Michael had one of his best games I have seen. He was fantastic in all aspects. He scored three and set up two so a really good day at the office for him.
“He is always a pretty confident player and the tries on Saturday took him up to a tally of 20 for the season.
“Michael is going pretty well and he likes it when it is a bit firmer under foot, we all do, and Ruislip’s ground was a bit more conducive to that than what we have previously played on so he was able to be in full flight.”
Connors was happy with the bonus point success, especially after Colchester only achieved a 10-3 win against North Walsham.
Manor coach is happy with where his team are going into the eight games of the season and believes their will be more twists and turns in the race for the title.
“I said to the guys on Saturday bonus point is nice, but we need to focus on the win first,” added Connors.
“The weather probably helped us out with the Colchester result looking at a couple of their photos on their website.
“They were playing in snow and had to sweep the pitches at one stage so that probably didn’t help them.
“There is plenty of games to go yet so I am sure the worm will turn a few times and it is not going to be easy runs for either of us so we both need to keep working hard, but the bonus point is always the target for us.”
