Motormen boss content with 10-men performance

Redbridge manager Dave Ross was delighted with his side’s resilience in their 1-1 draw with Ware.

The Motormen had Charlie Parish sent off for a second bookable offence in just the 37th minute and went behind with 59 minutes played.

Despite their disadvantage Gavin Cockman pulled the Oakside team level with 20 minutes remaining leaving Ross happy with the Redbridge effort.

“Being 1-0 down and down to 10 men, it was pleasing to get a point. We always looked like we would get the equaliser, if not more,” said Ross.

Parish was dismissed with eight minutes remaining in the first half with a second yellow card having picked up his first booking 23 minutes earlier.

And Ross feels he can have no issue with the referee’s decision to remove the defender from the field of play.

“The red card was deserved. You could look at it being a bit harsh with some of the fouls that were let go,” added Ross.

“If you’re talking about the letter of the law, they probably were two bookable offences. They weren’t dirty fouls, he was just pulling the player back.

“It was a little naive but Charlie is a young player with terrific ability. He’ll learn from that.”

The Motormen have played twice in March, winning against Romford before the tie with Ware.

The four points collected have proved vital in moving Redbridge away from the relegation positions and Ross feels his side have got what they deserved so far this month.

“The last few games we’ve got our just desserts. We could easily have come away with a win had we had 11 players on the pitch.”
