Redbridge joint-manager Dave Ross insists his side’s 4-1 success at Waltham Abbey on Tuesday was “thoroughly deserved” as they ended their five-game run without a win in impressive fashion.

Emiel Aiken and Daniel Charge both scored twice as the Motormen took the points with an excellent second-half display after leading 1-0 at the break.

And their joint-boss believes the victory was long overdue after conceding late goals in their previous two outings.

Ross said: “The win was thoroughly deserved.

“Our work-rate was excellent and the boys really played for each other.

“We defended well and we also took our chances.

“It’s one of the best performances of the season, but we have been playing well generally.

“We played no differently than in a lot of games, but we kept the ball better than we have done recently.”

Having conceded a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 home draw with Tilbury a fortnight ago, the Motormen suffered a similar fate on Saturday when another last-gasp effort saw Harlow nick a 2-2 draw after being two goals down.

Geoff Mitchell and Eljay Worrell scored late in the first half for Redbridge, only for Alex Read (58) and James Smith (90) to rescue a point for the hosts.

And Ross admitted it was difficult to take, especially as his side should have put the game to bed.

He said: “It was a killer and we paid the price for not holding onto the ball.

“We had a great chance to make it 3-1 when we missed an open goal with three minutes left and then got caught with a very late equaliser.”

And they return to Ryman One North action on Saturday when they play lowly Ware at home, although Ross insists it won’t be an easy game.

He said: “Ware beat Waltham Forest on Tuesday and drew 5-5 with Brentwood at the weekend, so we won’t be underestimating them.

“Obviously we’ll be disappointed if we don’t win the game but you can’t take anything for granted in football, especially at this level.”
