Roding Valley Tri Club member Claire Bloom maintained her good form by picking up a podium finish at the Tri Farm Sprint Triathlon.

Bloom took part in the race in Chelmsford as part of her World Championships race preparation.

After heavy rain overnight the morning brought bright sunshine and a stunning lake setting for the race.

The action started with a slightly longer 800m lake swim and Bloom had to work her way round the male swimmers to find some clear water to finish in a season’s best time of 14 minutes.

The bike course proved to be a real challenge and after 1km there was a long climb of about 3km.

The last section of the bike route was a long descent and Bloom completed the 18k as the fourth fastest female rider in a time of 37.24.

The athlete completed the run in a time of 23.51 and a total time of 1:16:34 placed her sixth overall and first in her age group.
