Redbridge joint-manager Ricky Eaton says his side must stay positive and pick up maximum points to give them a chance of promotion to the Bostik North.

The Motormen face a busy final week of the season as they host basement club Hackney Wick at Oakside on Saturday (3pm), before making the trip to Basildon United’s Ho Ho Stadium on Wednesday (7.45pm).

Eaton’s men will have to rely on results going their way as they battle it out with FC Romania and Basildon for promotion, with Great Wakering Rovers looking set to be crowned champions of the Essex Senior League.

“We’re just trying to remain positive, get our points on the board, and see where that takes us,” Eaton said.

“We need to get six points on the board and hope results go our way so it’s hard to talk about right now as there are so many outcomes and we’re depending on other teams slipping up.”

The former London Bari boss is expecting two tough matches to end the campaign and admitted he is shocked Hackney Wick have struggled as much as they have this season.

“Their recent form doesn’t surprise me as we played them previously and only just beat them 2-1,” he said. “It’s actually quite surprising they’ve struggled so much as they’ve always looked okay when I’ve seen them.

“I would have put them higher up the table, but there must be reasons for them struggling.”

The manager also revealed no matter how the results go, their match on Wednesday will decide which of the three sides will gain promotion.

“It will decide who gets to go up between us two teams, unless Romania win their last two then it could also decide if they go up.

“If results do go our way it could come down to who win the games win it all on the evening.

“But then again Great Wakering could lose their last three games, no one has ever mentioned that, but I do think that’s very unlikely.”

Eaton believes they only have themselves to blame if they miss out on promotion after leading the Essex Senior League for months, adding: “We have tucked ourselves up so we have no one to blame other than ourselves if we miss out.

“It’s all about momentum from our point of view and making sure we finish on a high. If we do both who knows what could happen.”
