Redbridge Judo Club member to compete in Sofia next month

Redbridge Judo Club’s Amy Platten has been selected in the Great Britain squad for next month’s Junior European Championships.

The under-48kg judoka will make her debut in the Junior Europeans in Sofia and is part of a nine-strong team selected by British Judo for the competition.

Platten, who won gold at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival in the Hungarian city of Gyor last year, is in her first full year at junior level.

Despite the step up, Platten has impressed and took gold at the Danish Open in both the senior and junior under-48kg category, as well as collecting a bronze at the Kaunas Junior European Cup.

Platten will be in action on the first day of competition in Sofia on September 13, with the event running until September 16.

And the Redbridge JC member will hope to add to her medal haul for the year with more success on her trip to Sofia.
