Essex Open made it two wins from two in the Mizuno Premiership this season with a 54-45 success at home to Norfolk United.
After a pulsating first period, the hosts trailed 13-12 having seen the lead to and fro throughout.
Though Open started the second quarter brightly, they found themselves 28-25 heading into half time.
Despite struggling at the start of the second half, Essex managed to turn things around to lead 45-35 heading into the final quarter.
The fourth period was something of an anti-climax as Open looked to keep hold of possession to fend off a late fightback from Norfolk.
Open are without a game this weekend and return to action on October 29 away to Cumberland.
