A round-up of the latest matches involving Essex Open teams

Essex Open B all but ensured another season in Essex Met League Division One with a 40-33 victory over New Cambell Blue.

The success was built on an outstanding defensive performance by Ellie Stanley and Anna Glenn.

Open started well with Vanessa Culvier and Sarah Biss feeding good ball to Siobahn Livingstone and Harriet Welton as the visitors led 10-4 at the end of the first quarter.

The second period was tightly contested with both teams missing chances, but Essex were able to hold a 19-12 advantage at half time.

The second half followed a similar pattern with neither side able to establish their superiority.

There was little difference between the teams with both quarters in the second half finishing 10-10 and 11-11 respectively as Essex maintained their seven-goal lead.

Essex Open: Glenn, Stanley, Wilks, Biss, Culvier, Campbell, Livingstone, Welton.

*Essex Open C gave their promotion bid in Division Four a boost with a 44-26 success against Ilford.

The first quarter was tight with Jess Fray, Kate Wilks and Nicola Alves working hard in the centre court as Open led 9-7.

Yoma Toweh and Amber Gooden were strong in defence, while Terri Mia-Burke and Miffy Smethan scored sufficient goals to give Essex a 20-13 lead at half time.

Open always held the upper hand in the second half and Ilford never really looked like getting back on terms.
