Thomas McCurtains men’s hurlers had to make do with silver medals as finishing as runners-up in the McCullough Cup.

The Goodmayes side took part in the annual 11-a-side blitz competition, which was held in Ruislip on Saturday.

Despite losing their opening group game 1-5 to 1-1 against St Gabriel’s, McCurtains recovered to beat Fulham Irish 2-6 to 0-1 to reach the final.

The Goodmayes club gave a good account of themselves against Fr. Murphy’s, but ultimately fell to a 1-10 to 1-1 defeat.

The hurlers are back in action on Saturday when they meet Fulham Irish in the London Intermediate Championship in Wormwood Scrubs at 1pm.

McCurtains’ men’s football team, meanwhile, secured top spot in the AIB London League Division Two regular season table with a 4-12 to 0-10 win over St Clarets.

The Goodmayes club will meet Neasden Gaels in the final later this year to decide the overall champions.
