Local youngster impresses in Windsor

Churchfields Primary student Harrison O’Connor seems set for a promising kickboxing career after tasting success at the Cimac Super League British Open in Windsor.

The 10-year-old competed in the under-36kg division, which was one of 80 categories at the event that featured men and women from under-sevens up to adults.

O’Connor, who trains at the Enfield Kickboxing Academy, came through two bouts to reach the final.

There, the youngster continued his good form to win the British Open title, which was the second event in this year’s Cimac Super League.

“Harrison has been kickboxing since he was five, but is now aged 10 and has only just started fighting in competitions,” said his father, Barry.

“I’m very proud of him and hope he achieves his aim to represent Team GB and become a world champion.”

If the young O’Connor can continue his development, he may achieve his dream of competing in Team GB colours in the not-too-distant future.
