London One North: Third-place finish is in our hands, says Eton Manor captain Nick Horton ahead of April 7 showdown with Colchester

The New Wilderness club are in a great position heading into the final three fixtures of the season

Eton Manor are not involved in the London One North title race, but captain Nick Horton has called on his team-mates to try and claim a respectable third-placed finish this term.
With three fixtures left to play this season, Jamie Connors’ side are currently the best of the rest with second in the table Chingford and leaders Brentwood way ahead of the other 12 clubs in the division.
Manor moved up to third on Saturday with a 39-19 success at home to Old Priorians after Amersham & Chiltern, the previous occupiers of third, lost 42-19 at Colchester.
The New Wilderness club take a break from London One North action this week, but return on April 7 for a big home contest with old foes Colchester.

Connors’ team will go into the crunch clash on Saturday week with confidence after winning three consecutive games in March, but may have dropped a place by the time it comes around.
Colchester are set to take on Fullerians this weekend and if they win they will move up to third, which will only help add more importance to the April 7 showdown.

Horton said: “We have a pretty consistent squad at the moment which has definitely helped us over the last few games and we are looking upwards in the table.
“We have Colchester at our place coming up, so that will go a long way to deciding what position we end up in at the end of the season.
“We really want to keep pushing on and looking up the table and having to host Colchester soon means it is all in our own hands, so that’s positive and everyone is really focused right now.”
Manor continued their fine 2018 form last weekend with a bonus point win at home to Old Priorians, but it wasn’t all plain sailing.
The visitors started well, but Rhys Davies-Horne went over for the opening try of the match for the hosts slightly against the run of play.
Michael Byrne also grabbed a try in the first half, but the home side only led 15-12 at the break after a tough first 40.
Another score from Davies-Horne gave Manor breathing space and Ollie Phillips, Brad Burrell and Byrne also went over in the second half to help the New Wilderness club claim a hard-fought 39-19 win.
