Gary Lane won the Hainault Roads Club Championship Cup after completing the gruelling EDCA 100 Mile Time Trial in searing heat.

With temperatures soaring above 30oc, conditions were tough for all competing in the race on Sunday in Attleborough, Norfolk.

Lane, however, kept his cool to finish the event in a time of five hours and 13 minutes, which was enough to win the Hainault Roads Club Championship.

The achievements of Lane this term are the more remarkable given the Hainault Roads Club member has Type One diabetes.

Lane was not alone in competing in Norfolk, with club colleague Graham Mann finishing his first 100-mile time trial in 35 years in 4:46, which saw him claim the Hainault Roads Club Shield after some splendid efforts in 2018.

Graham Lawrenson, meanwhile, finished the ECCA 10 Mile Time Trial, which was held at Leaden Roding on Sunday, in a time of 26 minutes and 21 seconds.
