Group 5 Finals day is approaching and some of the finals are beginning to take shape after some excellent games in the last week.

The Champion of Champions competition will be contested between Peter Barham of South Woodford and Bill Nelson of Ford Sports.

The experienced men both had really tussles in their semi-final clashes.

Barham got the better of Aldersbrook’s Jerry Quy with a dramatic 21-18 victory over on Jerry’s home green.

The other semi was even tighter as Nelson took on Woodford bowler Kevin Reid, who has had an excellent singles summer.

Home advantage told for Nelson though in a gripping clash as he got home by 21-19.

It promises to be an excellent final between two big guns of the group.

Meanwhile, in the two-wood competition it will be an all Wanstead Central final.

Once again, Quy missed out in the semis as he was beaten by Colin Jones and he will face John Cook who got the better of Steve Welsh in his last-four clash.

The finals will take place at Old Dagenham BC on September 3.
