Fairlop Waters Golf Club’s youngsters had a Saturday to remember as they progressed to the finals of the Essex County Inter-Club Youth Shield Team Trophy.

Jimmy Burns, PGA professional at the club, saw his side emerge victorious at StockBrook Manor Golf Club against their rivals from Chelmsford GC with a 4-1 win sealing their spot in the final against either StockBrook Manor or Forrester Park GC on September 17.

On the victory, Burns said: “On a blistering hot afternoon against a very able Chelmsford Team the Fairlop youngsters showed courage and strength and produced a fantastic team performance.”

Chair of the Junior Committee, Gary Godleman, added: “It was a proud moment to see all our youngsters in attendance, even those who were not featuring in the team, cheering the team on to victory.

“Seeing them all sit round the table afterwards chatting like good old buddies is great.”
