Chigwell Indoor Bowls Club are celebrating 25 years as a club this year and they are on the hunt for new members to celebrate that fact.

The club are holding a special open day this Sunday and everyone is welcome to come along to the club which is situated at the David Lloyd Leisure Centree in Roding Lane,m Buckhurst Hill and give the game a go.

Club secretary Christine Easton said: “The outdoor season is finished and the outdoor players will be looking for something to do during the winter months, until they can get back outdoors.

“We are a very friendly club with about 100 members already. There is a league scheduled for every weekday and matches for the weekend.”

There are already plenty of quality players at the club, but Chigwell are looking for anybody, of any ability to come along and try the game for the first time.

The Open Day will start at 2.30pm and after a short game or practice for those who have not played before, there will be tea and cakes at about 4pm.

It sounds like a very civilised way to spend an afternoon, so why not pop down there on Sunday afternoon and give the game a try?
