A round-up of the latest news from the Thomas McCurtains GAA club

Thomas McCurtains women’s football team produced a stirring fightback to beat Tir Chonaill Gaels 2-11 to 2-10 in the Tom O’Connor Cup.

Heading into the final five minutes of the match, the Goodmayes Hospital Sports Ground club trailed by four points.

However, the hosts dug deep and scored 1-2 without reply to win the fixture by the tightest of margins.

The game was one of three home games for various McCurtains sides on Saturday on what was a busy day for the club.

There was disappointment for the men’s footballers as they lost 4-8 to 2-5 against Eire Og in the London Intermediate Championship preliminary round.

Johnny Winters and Tom Clarke scored goals for the hosts in the defeat, with Eire Og ending each half strongly.

McCurtains’ hurling team, meanwhile recorded a 2-17 to 3-8 victory over Cu Chullains in a challenge match to cap a fine day for the club.
