Thomas McCurtains’ hurlers came up short in their quest to win the London Intermediate Championship, losing 3-21 to 0-11 in the final against Brothers Pearse.

Played at a frantic pace throughout, the final was a tight affair until Pearse got a run on the McCurtains defence and opened up a seven-point gap in the closing minutes of the first half. The Goodmayes club came out all guns blazing after the restart and looked to stage a comeback, scoring the first two points of the second period.

However, it was not to be as a Pearse goal and a red card for McCurtains in the space of two minutes left the lads with too much to do.

Elsewhere, the women’s football team were beaten by Fr. Murphy’s in their final league game of the season.

The men’s footballers face Cu Chulainns in a Junior/Intermediate play-off at 4pm on Saturday in Greenford, while the hurlers play Pearse in the Division Two final in Greenford on Sunday at 2pm.
