Thomas McCurtains’ hurling team got their London League Division Two campaign off to a fine start with a 1-16 to 0-6 win at St Declan’s.

The match was held to mark the opening of the new pitch at Glen Rovers, Watford, with GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghaíl in attendance.

And the Goodmayes club produced a performance worthy of the stately occasion with a crushing 13-point triumph.

Next up for the men’s hurlers is the Ronan Cup semi-final against Granuaile with a 12pm start in Greenford on Sunday.

Elsewhere, the men’s footballers were beaten 2-7 to 1-9 by Dulwich Harps in London League Division Three despite a goal from James Searson.

The camogie team suffered a mixed bag of results in the British Mixed League, beating Croydon 2-2 to 0-7, but losing 1-7 to 1-0 against John Mitchels.

The women’s footballers, meanwhile, were beaten 5-19 to 0-4 by Parnells in the Intermediate League.
