The Woods are seventh in the Essex Senior League table after winning 3-1 at Enfield on Saturday
Woodford Town made it back-to-back 3-1 wins in the Essex Senior League on Saturday with an impressive comeback success away to Enfield.
The two clubs, who both currently groundshare with Bostik Premier outfit Harlow Town, faced off and the E’s were the ‘home’ side for the day.
Enfield took the lead in the first half in front of 29 spectators and held onto their lead until the break despite the Woods creating a number of chances.
Dee Safer’s ‘visitors’ came out in determined fashion in the second period, though, as the game resumed a similar pattern to the opening 45.
Despite stiff resistance from Enfield, the Woods youngsters proved just too hot to handle as second-half goals from Jaden Thompson-Brissett, Temi Babalola and Gio Sallangou saw them eventually run out relatively comfortable winners.
Assistant Manager Neil Day was delighted with the result and praised the mindset of the side, who have developed at a rapid pace in recent weeks
“It was a difficult game, but we knew we had a good chance of winning if we showed the right mindset,” Day said.
“Things did get a bit tetchy and we could have let external factors make us lose our focus, but the fact the boys regrouped and showed a ruthless streak in the second half tells you a lot about how the team is maturing and developing at an encouraging rate.”
Seventh-placed Woodford will aim to make it three wins in a row on Tuesday when they visit West Essex in the Essex Senior League.
