BARKINGSIDE boss Tony Fenn fears the destination of the Essex Senior League title has already been decided following a disappointing week for his side, writes Iain Liddle.

The Oakside club managed to take just one point from their two games against Barking in the past week, with a 3-1 loss followed by a 1-1 draw at Mayesbrook Park on Saturday.

In that time, leaders Stansted picked up two wins and a draw, hitting a stunning 19 goals in the process, which has seen them move four points clear at the top of the division.

"We're going to struggle now I think," said Fenn.

"Where we've had a bad week, Stansted have had a good week.

"It might well be all over now.

"They've got a strong team and are playing well."

Fenn was not satisfied with his side's performance at the weekend, but concedes their recent demanding list of games in quick succession may be the root cause.

"On Saturday, we were horrendous, but it looks like a lot of fatigue and mental tiredness," he said.

"I'm not making excuses but we've had a lot of games recently, including three in the previous week, and it might be getting to them.

"There are only so many new faces you can bring in."

Fenn was in the process of signing a new left back before yesterday's (Wednesday's) transfer deadline.

His side visit Witham Town on Saturday.
