Motormen slump to worst defeat in over two years at Aveley
Redbridge manager Dave Ross says the team let themselves down in their 7-0 defeat away to Aveley.
Ross’ team were five goals down by half time with Petrit Elbi performing the role of tormentor-in-chief as he netted four of those strikes.
The Millers added a further two after the interval to consign the Motormen to their worst defeat since December 2012.
The Redbridge manager left no one uncertain about how he was feeling after the match.
“It was embarrassing,” said Ross. “We were on top for the first 15 minutes. We looked decent. Then they scored their first goal.”
“We folded after that. Aveley deserved to win 7-0. We should be performing a lot better than we did.”
The defeat means the Oaksiders have not kept a clean sheet since February 10 and have conceded nine goals in their last three games.
The Redbridge chief admits his team’s effort to thwart attacks have been a recent worry, especially against Aveley.
“Defensively we were very poor. That does not mean Jack Avery in goal had a bad game, it would have been a lot more if it we didn’t have him,” added Ross.
“Aveley were quick in attack and took their chances well but we will be looking at defence in training this week.”
