Winger nets twice in win

Redbridge manager Dave Ross praised Joe Gent after the midfielder’s brace helped the Motormen beat Tilbury 2-1.

Gent struck twice in the first half to down the Dockers and secure a vital three points in the Oakside team’s quest to avoid relegation.

He has recently returned to the squad following a hamstring injury and Ross is pleased with the progress he has been making.

“Each game he is improving and finding his form again. It’s been a slow process with Joe because he is a young player,” said Ross.

“He had a lovely performance against Tilbury and perhaps could have had a hat trick. He’s a good hard working player with a good attitude.”

The win over the Dockers was Redbridge’s second in their last three games, a run of form which has seen them move seven points clear of the relegation places.

And Ross feels his side’s performance in the game against Tilbury justified the result.

“It was what we deserved, we deserved the three points. But it was disappointing to let in a late goal,” added Ross.

“Tilbury probably weren’t at their best. It’s always nice to beat your old side though.

“It’s nothing personal. I get on well with the people at Tilbury. But when Redbridge are playing them, I want to win.”
