Redbridge unrewarded; Barkingside battle back

Ryman North: Redbridge 2 Cray 4; Barkingside 1 Soham Town 1
Improving Redbridge were left empty handed after high-flying Cray came from behind to take the points at Oakside.
Windy conditions made lift difficult for both sides, but Leigh Bremner sent an early shot on the turn over the crossbar for the visitors.
Reside Coxi-Sebastfao was off-target at the other end after latching on to a through ball from Paulius Ditkevicius, but Calum Chafer to be alert to smother the ball at the second attempt to deny Cray.
Rigers Kabashi had an effort kept out by Nick Blue, before the home side opened the scoring when Blue fumbled the ball and the predatory Charlie Portway tapped home on 26 minutes.
Ditkevicius fired over as Redbridge went in search of a second, before Kabashi lost possession and James Duckworth forced a superb save from Chafer.
Cray had the wind in their favour in the second half and Chafer saves from Grant Basey, before a clearance rebounded off a Cray player and over the crossbar.
The visitors were back on terms, though, on 56 minutes when Sean Roberts combined with Duckworth and Ben Hunt curled his shot past Chafer.
Cray took the lead three minutes later as Duckworth netted at the second attempt and it was nearly 3-1 when Hunt produced another swerving effort that Chafer tipped wide.
It proved a key save as Motormen levelled moments later when Coxi-Sebastfao fired home a loose ball for his fourth goal in four matches.
But hopes of a shock Redbridge win were shattered when Kabashi conceded a free-kick in a dangerous position and Duckworth curled the set-piece past Chafer on 77 minutes.
And Cray sealed the points eight minutes from time when Hunt raced clear to slot home his second goal of the afternoon.
Redbridge are due to host Thamesmead on Tuesday.
Redbridge: Chafer, Parish, Sackey, Dorgu, Good, Kabashi, Gent (Prince 81), Ditkevicius (Belindir 87), Adeboxejo, Portway, Sebastfao (Espirito Santo 81). Unused subs: Drake, Cornelius.
*Barkingside battled back for a point against Soham Town Rangers at Cricklefield Stadium.
After a goalless first half, Salim Relanzi put the visitors ahead on 64 minutes.
But Gursel Gulfer’s Barkingside hit back to get on level terms through Michael Spencer’s seventh goal of the season to avoid a third successive defeat.
And the point earned moved them closer to neighbours Redbridge at the bottom of the table and three adrift of Waltham Abbey, following their win over fellow strugglers Wroxham.
