Redbridge crashed out of the Essex Senior Cup after suffering a 2-1 defeat to league rivals Basildon United.

The Motormen couldn’t contain the visitors Marcus Bowers and made it four losses in a row last night.

Two second-half goals from Bowers saw United through the competition, despite an equaliser from striker Calvin Poku.

The side’s went in 0-0 at half-time and it wasn’t until ten minutes into the second-half the deadlock was broken as Bowers scored from the spot.

Two minutes the hosts Poku blasted home a shot into the roof of the net from close range to make it 1-1.

Bowers restored the Bees lead in the sixty third minute when he curled home a free-kick to seal his side a 2-1 victory.

Redbridge return to league action and face high flyers FC Romania at Oakside on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
