Friendly joy for Motormen

Redbridge came from a goal down to beat Essex Senior League side Barking in their latest pre-season friendly at Oakside last night.

Sipho Mtyanda put the visitors in front with only three minutes gone, but Motormen were back on terms two minutes before the break.

The home side moved ahead on 51 minutes and sealed a 3-1 win just past the hour mark.

Redbridge take on tenants Newbury Forest tomorrow (Saturday), while Barking travel to Three Bridges.

Barking: Fowler, Powell, Sherwood, Golby, Rix, O’Brien, Nelson, Staunton, Adesina, Foster, Mtyanda. Subs: Barlow, Odedoyun, Killingback, J Barnett, Mogege, Baker.

Romford fell to a 3-0 defeat against Basildon United at Ford Sports Newbury Park.

Jordan Podge, Paul Shave and Craig Gilliam were on target for the Bees.

Boro travel to Welwyn Garden City for their next friendly test tomorrow (Saturday).

Barkingside beat Enfield Town 3-0 in their latest outing, while Newham battled to a goalless draw with Heybridge Swifts.

Remaining friendlies, Saturday: Chatham v Dagenham & Red XI; Frenford v Sporting Bengal; Herne Bay v Barkingside; Ilford v Braintree; Newham v Tilbury; Redbridge v Newbury Forest; Three Bridges v Barking; Uckfield Town v Clapton; Welwyn Garden City v Romford; Whitstable v Hornchurch.

Monday: Barkingside v Grays.
