Redbridge manager Ricky Eaton described his side’s performance as Jekyll and Hyde as they lost 3-1 to Sawbridgeworth Town in the Essex Senior League on the weekend.
The Motormen went into the match on a three game unbeaten run but that was brought to an end thanks to a brace from Joey Wright and former attacker Sipho Mtyanda.
An early goal from Remi Nelson meant very little as The Robins hit back with three goals of their own to seal the three points at Crofters End.
“First-half we should have been about two, three or four nil up, it was a very one-sided game and they were very fortunate to score an equaliser in the game,” Eaton said.
“It was a bad mistake from our centre-half Quincy, but if we had continued the same way second-half it could have been a landslide victory.
“To be fair to Sawbridgeworth, they came out second-half and performed really well, but we did give them another goal after a mistake from Remi Nelson sent them through one on one.
“They never really looked back after going in front and were the more dominate side second-half, it was a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde performance from us in the end.”
Nelson fired home to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute of the match but Wright levelled the score in the 38th minute to take a 1-1 draw into the half-time.
Former Redbridge striker Mtyanda came back to haunt his old side as he slotted home in the 58th minute to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
Wright then added a third for the Robins with eight minutes left in the match to seal the 3-1 win for his side.
“Sipho got a goal and I think he got an assist as well so he came back to haunt us a little bit.
“But we’ve got a lot of time for Sipho and it’s just one of them things.”
