Redbridge will be determined to continue their FA Vase run after a miserable start to their Essex Senior League campaign, writes Jacob Ranson.
The Motormen will welcome Peterborough Northern Star to the Oakside Stadium for their second round clash.
Manager Ricky Eaton and his side will be looking to progress into the third round of the competition and bag £900 in prize money.
But they must get past the United Counties League Premier Division side in order to do so and Eaton is looking forward to the distraction.
They will be without Quincy Egbejalde, Liam Burgess and Shaquel Foyewa, who are all suspended for the match.
“It’s something that we want a nice run in, we got through the last round, which was a tough game,” he said.
“Saturday is going to be another hard game, we don’t know much about Peterborough, but their results are similar to ours in terms of inconsistency so we’ll have to see how we go.”
Motormen sealed a comfortable 4-1 win in the first round of the competition against league rivals Southend Manor to bag £825 in prize money.
But despite their cup success this season, they have started poorly in the league and have failed to win in their last four league fixtures. And Eaton added: “We go into a cup game against Saffron Walden on Tuesday in the Essex Senior Cup as well, so its two cup games in a row, which is a good distraction from the league so we will welcome it.”
They let a 2-0 lead slip as they were pegged back for a 3-3 draw with mid-table Stanway Rovers on Tuesday.
A brace from Larry Asare and another from Terrell Miller was not enough to seal the three points as the Rovers scored three second-half goals at the Oakside Stadium.
At the weekend, Redbridge lost 2-1 to high-flying league leaders Stansted after having Foyewa sent off.
Connor Hammond put the hosts ahead before Miller levelled, but Jordan Palmer netted the winner to give the hosts the win at Hargrave Park.
Redbridge will also face in-form Saffron Walden Town in the Essex Senior Cup on Tuesday at Oakside Stadium.
