Redbridge joint-manager Ricky Eaton is disappointed with how his side played as they crashed out of the FA Cup on the weekend.

The Motormen fell to a 3-1 defeat to Eastern Counties Football League First Division side Long Melford in the Extra Preliminary Round at the Oakside Stadium.

Eaton’s side failed to progress into the Preliminary Round and missed out on bagging themselves £2,250 in prize money.

“Especially how the game actually panned out, we were really disappointed to lose the game 3-1, we created quite a few chances and we just didn’t really play well on the day to be fair.”

The boss did admit his new-look side will take time to gel after losing a handful of players to Bostik North sides and fellow Essex Senior League clubs in the summer.

But he is pleased with the players he’s brought in and feels they will be a strong outfit once they click.

“It’s probably going to take a little bit of time for the new players to gel with each other,” Eaton said.

“We’ve got a good squad but at the minute it’s just not clicking, we’re missing too many chances, and we paid the price for that on Saturday.”
