Another loss for Ross and Eaton

Redbridge suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Thamesmead Town in the Ryman North as their poor start to the season continued.

Dave Ross and Ricky Eaton’s team faced Thamesmead at Oakside yesterday looking to move off the bottom of the table.

Redbridge’s hopes of securing a second league win at home were hit in the 19th minute when Sean Roberts gave the visitors the lead.

The hosts tried to find a response but couldn’t before the break and came in one down at half time.

Ross and Eaton had more problems in the 72nd minute when they were forced to substitute goalkeeper Mark Parker and bring on Vinny Murphy.

And six minutes later Thamesmead doubled their lead through former Hornchurch midfielder Derek Duncan.

Duncan’s goal sealed the points for the visitors and consigned Redbridge to an eight defeat of the league campaign.

*Ilford won for the first time since August 23 as they produced a second half comeback to defeat Southend Manor 2-1 in the Essex Senior League.

The Foxes were trailing 1-0 at half time but Chris Stevens and Carl Mullins scored in the second period to earn Allan Fenn’s team a third win in the league.
