Ryman North: Redbridge 3 Soham Town Rangers 1

Redbridge moved off the bottom of the Ryman North after ending a run of 13 league defeats in a row with a 3-1 win over fellow battlers Soham Town Rangers.

It was a tense first 45 minutes at the Oakside Stadium with both teams heading in level after a goalless opening half.

The Motormen, though, opened the scoring from the spot in the 62nd minute with Jay Knight scoring a penalty to have the home fans dreaming of a first victory since August 15.

It was a dream which started to look like a reality when William Drake doubled the hosts’ advantage 10 minutes later to leave them two goals in front with little over 20 minutes remaining.

Soham were able to set up a tense finale just two minutes after Drake’s goal when Ryan Sharman netted to halve the deficit.

But those worries were put to bed when Knight struck for the second time 12 minutes from the end to ensure Redbridge picked up three points and with it moved to 22nd in the standings.

Redbridge : Parker, Cornelius, Alexandrou, Ogunleye, Dorgu, Ditkevius, Gent (Francis 84), Kabashi, Drake (Faponle 87), Knight, Prince (Amadi 75)
