Despite dominating play Newbury Forest had to settle for a point in their Thurlow Nunn Division One South match at Wormley on Saturday.

Forest started well passing the ball quickly and accurately and created a handful of chances , all of which were missed.

Then in the 34th minute a speculative lob from Freddy Anderson caught the Wormley keeper by surprise and he could only help the ball into the net to give forest a deserved lead.

Four minutes later the visitors were two up when leading scorer Jason Reynolds Blanche headed in firmly from a corner kick.

Although the visitors lost centre back Alex Wallis with a rib injury the second half pattern followed that of the first with Newbury creating some good chances and even though they failed to add to their goal tally they looked in total control.

In the 75th minute Wormley reduced the deficit with a breakaway goal to give the home side a lifeline.

As the game drew to a close disaster struck for the visitors.

Courtney Justin slipped as he went to clear a through ball and the Wormley player stole the ball from him before rounding keeper Ollie Bessex and slotting home the equaliser.

Newbury return to cup action this Saturday when they visit Essex Senior League side Clapton in the FA Vase.
