After winning at Sporting Bengal United and Redbridge last week, Dee Safer’s team host Tower Hamlets next

Woodford Town assistant manager Neil Day lauded the effort of his team after they made it back-to-back wins in the Essex Senior League on Friday night with a 3-1 victory at local rivals Redbridge.

Dee Safer’s side were playing a rare match in the Borough again and made the most of it to impress at Oakside.

The Woods scored twice in the first half and added another after the break to secure a fine victory away to the Motormen, who grabbed a late consolation.

After winning 4-0 at Sporting Bengal United two days earlier on September 26, to end a long winless run, Town are now bang in form ahead of entertaining Tower Hamlets on Tuesday at their temporary home – Harlow Arena.

Day said: “We were a little sceptical about playing twice in three days as two more defeats would have put us way behind where we wanted to be.

“So we treated it as two make-or-break games in the hope it would give our season momentum and it couldn’t have worked out better for us.

“All of the squad were involved and we were totally dominant over the 180 minutes of football. Fair play to the lads, they got their just desserts and hopefully we can kick on now.”

Having thrashed Sporting Bengal last Wednesday, the Woods picked up where they left off at Redbridge.

First-half goals from Samir Ali and Malaki Toussaint put the visitors in control and 12 minutes from time Temi Babalola added a third.

The Motormen were reduced to 10-men minutes before the third as Vinnie Murphy received his marching orders for a late tackle on Touissant.

Ricky Eaton and Joey May’s Redbridge, to their credit, did push for a way back into the contest and grabbed a consolation late on when Bryan Kyunga fired home from range to conclude the scoring.
